Nikki's passion is in designing and implementing customised strategies to future proof businesses, creating workplaces that attract and retain great employees and resolve the issues & costs of poor workplace engagement. Nikki is a well-respected and passionate health professional and recognised industry thought leader who has been invited to speak Nationally and Internationally about how to practically apply theories including behavioural economics to create healthy workplaces. Nikki strongly advocates the health benefits of 'good work' and in particular the physical, psychological and social benefits of working in a well designed workplace. Prior to establishing Navigate Work, Nikki built her own startup, The Interact Group to a national footprint before selling to Private Equity. Nikki is a director of Employers Mutual Limited and Employers Mutual NSW Limited, EMLVIC Pty Limited and Employers Mutual SA Pty Limited. Nikki holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, Occupational Therapy (Sydney University) and a MBA (Macquarie Graduate School of Management). Nikki is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Industrial Relations Reform - what it means for the workforce

Biography

As Secretary of the NSW Bus & Tram Division of the Australian Rail, Tram & Bus Industry Union, David co-ordinates the daily management of the activities undertaken by the Division in support Bus & Tram members in NSW and the ACT. As a former bus driver, David is a passionate advocate for workers in transport and having lived through the privatisation of the remaining NSW Government run buses, is a staunch advocate for accountability and transparency in Government process. A subscriber to the ITF principle that there is less of a shortage of workers than there is of good jobs, David advocates at all opportunities for more balanced workplaces that genuinely deliver for workers and thus employers.

Sam McIntosh is the Assistant Secretary of the Transport Workers’ Union of Australia (TWU) South Australia / Northern Territory Branch. Sam has previously held positions with the National Office of the TWU, based in Sydney, and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), the peak body for transport unions around the world, based in the UK. He has been admitted and enrolled as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia and has previously practiced industrial law. The TWU represents workers throughout the transport industry, including bus drivers, and Sam is a leader in the fight to raise standards and improve conditions.

Simon Clayer has been the Kelsian Group’s Legal Counsel for Industrial Relations and Employment since November 2021. Before joining Kelsian, Simon spent 10 years in legal practice as a workplace relations specialist for law firms in Brisbane representing the needs of employers and employees in court and industrial tribunals. Prior to admittance as a solicitor, Simon was an industrial officer for the Australian Services Union and Together Queensland providing advice, support and representation to employees in State and Commonwealth tribunals. Before commencing his industrial career, Simon held various public relations management roles in the private sector and with the South Australian Government.

Biography

Mark is National Research and Planning Officer at the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union and Adjunct Principal Research Fellow of RMIT University's Graduate School of Business and Law. Mark was previously the Laurie Carmichael Distinguished Research Fellow at the Carmichael Centre, within the Centre for Future Work at The Australia Institute, and before that held research roles at The University of Adelaide and Flinders University and in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Mark received his PhD in 2018 and has contributed a range of publications on topics including advanced manufacturing industry policy, the future of work, political economy, economic theory, and trade union leadership.

Biography

Yuri Tessari became a Council Member for the Bus Industry Confederation representing the Bus Body Manufacturers Group in early 2022, and is a Member of BIC’s National Zero Emission Bus Committee. Yuri is Volgren’s Chief Commercial Officer, responsible for contract management, partnerships, and customer success. Yuri has led a number of Volgren’s recent zero-emission bus supply contracts including the Melbourne Bus Franchise, Zero-Emission trials in Victoria and a recent Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership with Wrightbus in the UK. Yuri brings global experience having held senior sales roles at Marcopolo, Brazil and global sales for Scania based in Sweden.
