Car parking is available within the Realm Precinct for hotel meeting delegates and event guests. Realm Precinct has over 800 car spaces located across Hotel Realm, Burbury Close, 9 & 3 Sydney Avenue and Little National Hotel. Parking is complimentary at the Hotel Realm for the first 60mins.

Getting to Canberra

Bus and coach services operate to and from Canberra from the Snowy Mountains, the South Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and beyond. See Murrays Coaches, Buses & Limousines, Greyhound Australia or Road Jet for routes, prices and timetables.

Canberra is less than two hours flying from eastern Australian cities. Daily domestic services are available from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne or fly direct from Adelaide, Hobart, and Newcastle with connecting flights to Ballina Byron, Port Macquarie, and the Gold Coast. Canberra Airport is serviced by Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar, Rex Airlines, Fly Pelican and Link Airways.

Driving to Canberra is a breeze. Australia’s capital is a three hour drive from Sydney and eight hours from Melbourne.

There is a direct rail service which departs from Sydney Central Station daily and travels to Canberra via the Southern Highlands, Goulburn and Bungendore. Terminating at the Canberra Railway Station in Kingston, the trip takes a leisurely four-and-a-half hours. Check timetables and book online through Transport NSW. There are no direct Melbourne to Canberra rail services, however, you can catch the train to Albury and then be transferred by coach. You can find timetables and booking information from Public Transport Victoria for Canberra to Melbourne (via Albury) route. Alternately, catch the Melbourne to Sydney train and transfer to the Canberra train from the Goulburn railway station.

Getting around Canberra

For cost-effective and easy public transportation throughout the city, it’s hard to go past Canberra's public buses and light rail. Transport Canberra operates the public bus and light rail network, a convenient and cheap way for visitors to get around the capital. Use the journey planner to find out just how easy it is to get around Canberra. Transport Canberra's fleet includes easy access (i.e. no step) buses for people with reduced mobility, and these are used on the high frequency routes known as Rapid services. Select Rapid services also have specially designed carry racks making it convenient to commute or cover longer distances when cycling by taking your bike on a bus.

Transport Canberra provides daily Airport transfer services to and from Canberra Airport. Rapid Bus 3 runs on a half-hourly schedule on weekdays and on the hour on weekends. The route takes passengers between the Canberra Airport terminal through to the city interchange, Belconnen interchange, Cohen St interchange to Spence Terminus.

There are many options for hiring a car in Canberra. Most major national car rental companies have offices located in the city and at Canberra Airport, making pick up and drop off a breeze. With plenty of parking, no tollways and very little congestion, zipping around Canberra by car is one of the best ways to experience all the city has to offer. Traffic jams are few and far between, and it takes approx. 30 minutes to get from one side of Canberra to the other.
