Biography

Ian Porter is the First Assistant Secretary Data, Research, Strategy and Net Zero, within the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication and the Arts. As well as leading on climate and decarbonisation policy, Ian’s role spans the development, use and custodianship of data and knowledge within DITRDCA to support government, industry and the community to make decisions related to all aspects of the portfolio. Ian brings more than thirty-five years experience in evidence-based government policy, specialising in climate change, energy and sustainability, as well as working across government, public service, consulting and the not-for-profit sector. The Department has recently published the Government’s Transport and Infrastructure Net Zero Consultation Roadmap, outlining possible decarbonisation pathways for all transport modes and for transport infrastructure and other enabling systems.

Biography

Tim Sutton is an electrical engineer who has worked in Tasmania's electrical industry since 1999. For most of that time, he has been employed with power utilities in a range of engineering roles. His current role as Leader – Network Planning at TasNetworks chiefly focuses on assessing and optimising the Tasmanian distribution and transmission networks' suitability for present and future demands. Tim also oversees the technical assessments related to connecting loads and generators of various sizes to the power system. Tim enjoys working to help improve Tasmania’s renewable energy self-sufficiency.

Biography

Rhys Moore is the Commercial Lead, Hydrogen and EV at VIVA Energy. With over a decade’s experience in private wealth management and downstream oil and gas, Rhys has spent his career working across a variety of investment and commercial roles. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and a post-graduate degree in Applied Finance, Rhys has spent much of his working career across Viva Energy's Supply & Trading, Retail and Commercial business units. Rhys now leads the commercial strategy for Viva Energy’s hydrogen and BEV program, including the company’s flagship hydrogen mobility project the Viva Energy Hub in Geelong.

Biography

Simon Roycroft is the current chair of Bioenergy Australia’s Cleaner Fuels Alliance and Manager of Future Fuels for Refuelling Solutions. Simon has extensive experience in various industries, including energy and television. Currently, Simon holds the position of Manager Future Fuels at Refuelling Solutions® trading as Mini-Tankers® and Maxi-Tankers® and serves as the Chair of the Cleaner Fuels Alliance at Bioenergy Australia. With a background in sales, management, and leadership roles, Simon has demonstrated competency in overseeing various aspects of business operations. Simon graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Curtin University.
