Paul Spinks
Mental Health Advocate, Paramedic & Trauma Counsellor, Founder of The Outback Ambo

Guest Speaker Keynote Address

9:55 AM - 10:35 AM

Biography

Paul Spinks has more than 20 years on the frontline responding to mental health crises across Australia, Paul knows that burnout and breakdown follow predictable patterns. Today, he works with workplaces and communities to recognise early warning signs and take action before crisis strikes. As a career Paramedic, he delivers insights that won’t be found in any textbook. His Outback Ambo persona is built on years of remote, high stakes work and real-world consequences, cutting straight through corporate noise. He has seen firsthand what happens when stress goes unchecked, silence goes unbroken, thinking spirals, and health is neglected. He has carried the consequences out of homes, off highways and out of workplaces. After decades on the road, one lesson stands above all others: the only person you ultimately have control over is yourself. You are the first responder to your own wellbeing. Paul’s mission is to empower people to own that responsibility and recognise the cracks long before trouble arrives. Nothing teaches you how to live well like the ambulance service. Every day, you see the consequences when people don’t. At the core of his message is a simple truth: No matter what you achieve or how successful you become, none of it matters if it comes at the expense of your physical or mental health. Real change starts with one choice, one breath, one small win at a time. Most speakers make you think, some make you feel, very few change the way that you live. This will be one of them!
